Parish property taxes due: $12.5 million

The tax bill for property owners in Concordia Parish this year totals $12,508,557.42.

Taxes are due by December 31st, according to the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office Tax Collection Division.

According to the Concordia Parish Tax Assessor's office, the total assessed property value parishwide is $153,969,950, while the total homestead assessed value is $27,708,462. Total taxable assessed value is $126,261,488.

Once again, the top taxpayer in the parish is Catalyst Old River Hydroelectric at $3,359,819.67 followed by Union Underwear Co., Inc., $1,442,835.67; and Martin Mills. $498,259.40.

Also among the top 25 taxpayers in the parish are:

Entergy Louisiana $287,610; Concordia Bank & Trust, $280,636.34; Promise Healthcare, Inc., $239,307.23; Bellsouth Telecommunications, $154,104.75; Concordia Electric Cooperative, $118,188.14; BASF Catalysts, LLC, $104,317.05; and Twin Oaks Holding Company, $103,107.46.

Delta Bank, $95,785.27; Angela Grain Company, $88,915.64; River Correctional Facility, $88,606.70; Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC, $76,820.77; Axis Onshore, LP, $63,473.71; Plains Pipeline, $57,634.05; Angelina Land, LLC, $56,438; Wal-Mart Real Estate, $55,278.54; Jackson Enterprises, Inc., $54,625.97; Lakeside Ford, Inc., $53,763.90; Cotton Warehouse, $49,056.63; Professional Health Services, $48,876.83; Bunge North America, $42,185.37; Bunge Corporation, $38,022.71; Performance Auto South, $34,796.31.

The actual tax income will be divided among the various parish governing bodies. Taxes collected include the parish tax (Concordia Parish Police Jury), law enforcement tax (Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office), levee tax (Fifth District Levee Board), City of Vidalia, school tax (Concordia Parish School Board), school new construction tax (Concordia Parish School Board), parish Recreation Districts 1, 2 and 3, as well as a maintenance tax for Recreation District No. 3.

Other agencies receiving these tax monies include rural Fire Districts 1 and 2 (maintenance taxes), and the Louisiana Tax Commission.

Taxes became delinquent after December 31, and a one percent interest rate per month will be added for late taxes, plus costs.
