Concordia sales tax income down; Ferriday, Vidalia up

A decline in oilfield operations and in car sales resulted in lower sales tax collections in Concordia in 2009 although both Vidalia and Ferriday's collections increased during the last two years.

Meanwhile, thanks to a new tax, Catahoula's collections rose by 10.85 percent last year, while Tensas' collections plummeted 14.38 percent.

These figures were compiled by the Concordia Parish Sales Tax office, which collects sales taxes for the three parishes as well as others.
