Funeral services for Mr. Aubrey Lipsey, 79, of Monterey were held at New Era Baptist Church on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Bro. Huey Tarpley, Bro. Dennis Baker and Dr. Ralph Webber officiating.

Interment followed at New Era Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mr. Lipsey was born August 17, 1930 in New Era and passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at his residence in Monterey.

He was a member of the New Era Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and song leader for many years. He was a farmer and also worked at International Paper Company. He was most recently employed with the Concordia Parish Sheriff's Office. Mr. Lipsey loved animals he raised horses, cows, and Catahoula Cur dogs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne King Lipsey; father, Tillman Vanner Lipsey; mother, Nina Hazel Boles Lipsey; daughter, Johnnie Lea Wilson; four brothers -- Burlon "Joe" Lipsey, James Lipsey, Ivy Lipsey, and Houma Lipsey; two sisters, Thelma Tarver and Floy Delhoste.

Survivors include daughter, Pamela Nasif of Natchez; daughter, Phyllis Hall of Natchez; daughter, Jeannie and husband Leo Mitchell, Jr. of Monterey; son, Aubrey Todd Lipsey of Monterey; sister, Maxine Strebeck of Monterey; sister, Melba Thompson and husband Lester of Monterey; son-in-law, Ned Wilson of Monterey; grandchildren -- Chessie Love Nasif, Naum Nasif, Raven Wilson, Kristen Ater Pate and husband Adam, Austin Hall, Rie Mitchell, Clint Mitchell, and Rebecca Mitchell; and great grandchild, Cain Lipsey.

Pallbearers were Van Strebeck, Lane Dale, Jerry Lipsey, Lanny Lipsey, Gene Baker, Brad Lipsey, Paul Lipsey and Chase Strebeck.

Honorary pallbeaers were Leo Moreland, Melvin Knapp, Brian Tiffee, Curtis Greene, J.D. Lipsey, Burton Boles, Milton Sanders, Gerald Delhoste, and Lynn White.
