Memorial services for Shirley Marie McClerkin, 68, of Vidalia were held Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Vidalia United Methodist Church in Vidalia.

Arrangements were under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Ms. McClerkin was born October 24, 1941, in Lake Village, Ark., and passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at her residence in Vidalia.

She was a member of Vidalia United Methodist Church where she joyfully served the Lord in song as a choir member. She was retired from International Paper Company and was currently employed by Adams County Juvenile Justice Department where she worked with the Family First Program. She was also known for her singing in the Mississippi Medicine Show.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. T. McClerkin; mother, Belle McClerkin Starr; and two brothers, John Hamilton McClerkin and Nevins Eugene McClerkin.

Survivors include one brother, Cliff Starr and wife, Barbara, of Vidalia; three nieces, Vicki Torrey and husband Bill of Vidalia, Dianna L. Crowson and husband Ronnie of Pearl, Miss., and LeShaye Parker and husband Matt of Vidalia; nephew, Jody Starr and wife Kristen of Natchez; great niece, Jessica Whittington and husband Adam of Pearl; great niece, Jennifer Bennett and husband Malcolm of Carrollton, Miss.; great nephew, Michael Torrey and wife Heather of Chicago, Ill.; great nieces and nephews — Shawn, BriAnna, Gaby and Sydney Parker of Vidalia, Dylan, Kayla, Marissa, and Braden Starr of Natchez; great great nieces and nephews — Justin, Jordan, McNeil, Bella, Callum and Hayden.
