Ruth E. McWilliams Mrs. Ruth Enlow McWilliams, 79, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Miss.
Services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. McWilliams was born in Prescott, Ariz., in 1930, her parents were the late Marion and Rosalie Cross. She proudly served our country as a WAC in California and did some modeling in her younger days. She later moved to Jackson, Miss., where she taught dancing and gymnastics. She was a very versatile and talented lady. She was employed for a time with University Medical Center in the Hypertension Program.
Mrs. McWilliams met and married the love of her life, Henry "Skeets" McWilliams a Jazz musician in 1993. Her marriage to Skeets kept them traveling and entertaining. She enjoyed accompanying her husband when he would perform for the local nursing homes or several Bed and Breakfasts. Mrs. Ruth loved meeting new people, she was an outgoing person with a loving and gracious heart, they were the perfect team. Her children said their mother was so beautiful and radiant when she walked in a room she just lit it up. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. McWilliams was preceded in death by her precious grandson, Tyler Thompson; and her sister, Lena Evans.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Henry "Skeets" McWilliams of Jackson; one son, Shay Enlow (Martha) of Rosehill, Kan.; three daughters, Ethel Lambright (Curtis) of Monterey, Ramee Thompson (Wayne) of Natchez, and Dolly Simpson (Clifford) of Monterey; a step-son, Larry McWilliams (Deanna) of Brandon; one brother; Marion Cross, Jr.; three sisters, Elizabeth Townsend, Faye Gillard, and Pauline Alexander, all of Washington; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of friends.
