The Concordia Parish Police Jury agreed to request assistance from state and federal officials for funding to improve the 10-mile Poole Road, which loops off Hwy. 15 through part of the Bayou Cocodrie National Wildlife Refuge.

Mark Cupit, Evan Thames and other residents said the road is virtually impassable due to poor drainage and potholes caused by a lack of maintenance, "mudhogging," and night hunting.

"It's frustrating and aggravating," Thames said of having to traverse the road on a daily basis.
