Riverland breaks even in 2009 fiscal year

Riverland Medical Center (RMC) ended the September 30, 2009, fiscal year at the break even level, according to Administrator Vernon Stevens.

Although a financial report by the CPA firm Lester, Miller & Wells of Alexandria showed more than $1 million in excess revenue for RMC, Stevens said the excess was due primarily to grant funding.

"The excess was not in operational income," said Stevens, "it was mostly from grants for computers and we received some capital outlay funds for the addition to a clinic building."
