Anders files bill on milo assessment District 21 State Rep. Andy Anders of Vidalia has pre-filed a bill for the upcoming 2010 legislative regular session that he hopes will provide some financial relief for grain sorghum (milo) farmers.
"Farmers could face something very similar to double taxation without this legislation," said Anders. "Farmers have to pay a federal assessment on grain sorghum at the grain elevator and would have to pay a state assessment too without this legislation. As long as a federal assessment is in play, this bill will suspend the state assessment."
