Irene Smith
Funeral services for Irene Smith, 87, of Ridgecrest were held at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday, on Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Jerry Sharp, Jr. officiating.
Interment followed at Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Ms. Smith was born October 31, 1922, in Brookhaven, MS and passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Clayton Baptist Church.
Ms. Smith once held the position of President of the Garden Club in Clayton, back in the 50's. Her main joy in life was to be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who called her "Gee Gee."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Ray Smith; father, Alius E. Smith; mother, Pauline Allen Smith; five brothers -- Cecil Smith, Earl Smith, Robert Lee Smith, Winford Smith, and C.B. Smith.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Ray Smith and wife Patsy of Ferriday; daughter, Glenda White and husband Lawrence of Winnfield; daughter, Pam Kiser and husband Rusty of Vidalia; five grandchildren -- Patti Pope, of Monroe, Tanya Norris of Roxie, Stacie Culberson of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Russ Kiser of Vidalia, and Barrett Kiser of Ridgecrest; and seven great-grandchildren -- Leslie, Taylor, Hunter, Denver, Maddy, Jase, and Adrian.
Pallbearers were Russ Kiser, Barrett Kiser, Leslie Fish, Hunter Norris, Denver Waren, and Earl Norris.
