Geraldine Linch Dawson Services for Geraldine Linch Dawson, 80, of Natchez, who died March 12, 2010 will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St Mary Basilica with Rev David O'Connor and Rev Alfred Camp officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and the rosary will be said from 9:30 until 10 a.m. Graveside services will be held immediately after at Natchez City Cemetery.
Geraldine (Gerry) Dawson was born in Wheeling, West Virginia to William "Bill" and Theresa Linch on August 29, 1929. Gerry attended St. Alphonsus Grade School, graduated from St. Joseph Academy High School and then went to work for the telephone company. While working at the telephone company she met her soul mate, Art Dawson. They met, fell in love and were dedicated to one another for the rest of their lives. She lost her husband of 59 years just 19 days ago on February 21, 2010. Gerry gave birth to eight children and was an excellent mother and friend to everyone she came in contact with. She went to work for Sears and worked there until she retired. Gerry loved long car rides and beautiful sunsets.
She was a devout Catholic, attended mass with her husband on a daily basis at St Mary's Basilica and was a member of the rosary group. She was a loyal child of God, and the best wife and mother anyone could ask for. She was loved dearly by everyone and never met a stranger. She was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone. She volunteered her time teaching special education at Cathedral Schools, and sharing the word of the Lord with those in the Adams County and City Correctional Systems. She was a volunteer for the Natchez Regional Medical Center Pink Ladies, the Natchez Stewpot, and many other Natchez Charities.
Gerry and Art are together again watching rainbows in heaven. We were always proud to call you Mom. We love you and miss you dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Arthur Dawson; two sons, Tim Dawson and Danny Dawson; parents William and Theresa Linch; brother, William Linch; and sisters Helen Templin and Madeline Berry.
