Strain sees good days ahead for agriculture

Commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain knew rough days were ahead for the economy weeks before the recession.

Now he's seeing much better days ahead.

Strain told the Ferriday Rotary Club on Thursday that he can judge economic trends by food trends.

"When chicken — the least expensive source of protein — when you see it going down, you know there's a problem," he said.
