Two public meetings will be held in Vidalia next month to discuss a proposed $4 million recreation complex to built near Wal-Mart.

The meetings were called by the Recreation District No. 3 Board of Directors.

Board chairman Mike Archer said he also wants to hear the opinions of the public on the proposal to extend the current 3.98-mill recreation renewal tax from 10 years to 40 years. Voters will cast ballots on that question on May 1.

The first meeting will be held Thursday, April 8, in the Concordia Parish Police Jury meeting room at 6 p.m., the second on Thursday, April 15, at the Bryant O. Hammett Vidalia Conference and Convention Center.
