Lady Vikings lose close ones

Vidalia's snakebit softball team lost another heartbreaker in District 3-3A, falling to Bunkie, 3-2 Monday in Bunkie.

"We were up 2-1 in the sixth inning after putting runners on second and third with no outs in the fifth inning and having three batters strike out," said Vidalia coach Gary Paul Parnham. "Their leadoff hitter got on and then we had a passed ball and they won the game on a sacrifice fly. We just can't seem to turn the corner. All we needed was a groundball to the right side in the fifth inning. We had our chances."

Vidalia fell to top-rated Buckeye 2-0 in Deville on Thursday.

"We played one of our better games against the top 3A team in the state," Parnham said. "We were able to get out of jams we've been getting ourselves into most of the season. We've come a long way since the start of the season."
