Services for Irvin "Clem" Clemons, 72, of Kempner, Texas, were held Thursday, March 24, 2010, at Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights, Texas. Burial followed at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

Mr. Clemons died March 19, 2010, in Killeen. He was born September 19, 1937, in Ferriday, to Maurice Clark and Teresa Williams-Clemons.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1956 until 1981; decorations included two Purple Hearts, six combat tours in Vietnam, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV and VFW. He married Vivian Schopf on April 16, 1996, in Copperas Cove.

Mr. Clemons retired from civil service in 1999. He owned and operated Clems Small Engine Repair until 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Clemons of Kempner; four sons, Patrick Clemons of Batesville, Miss., Arron Clemons of Tennessee, Robert Clemons of Austin and Tony Clemons of Copperas Cove; three daughters, Rocheller Sheppard and Marcheller Banks, both of Ferriday, and Quin Clemons of New Orleans; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
