Wave down Vidalia for Lady Viking title Cathedral defeated Vidalia 6-4 in the finals of the Vidalia Tournament Saturday.
Vidalia loaded the bases with no one out in its last at-bat, but was unable to score a run.
Katlyn Thornton singled twice and had two RBIs, while Eryn Secrest doubled for the Lady Vikings. Caitlyn Hendricks singled.
Vidalia defeated Rayville 2-1in the first game of the tournament.
Kennedy Beard and Kassi Randall had two hits each to lead the Lady Vikings.
Vidalia trailed Franklin Parish 6-2 before scoring 16 runs in one inning in an 18-6 win.
"We showed what we are capable of doing," said Vidalia coach Gary Paul Parnham.
Beard and Laura Perrilloux had three hits each, while Randall, Lauren Secrest and Thornton had two hits each
The Lady Vikings' junior varsity team fell to Monterey 9-0 and to Cathedral, 6-4.
Monterey scored eight runs in its first at-bat and added one in the second.
Paige Bryan struck out 10 Lady Viking batters and allowed only one hit.
Ellen Bairnsfather, returning to play after receiving stitches on her hand from a sliding cleat, doubled and singled. Bryan and Taylor Morace both singled and Casey White doubled.
Monterey defeated LaSalle 5-1 as Bryan allowed three hits.
Morace singled twice, while Ariel Hector and Bairnsfather both doubled.
Monterey fell to Cathedral, 8-5.
Bairnsfather had two of Monterey's five hits, including a double. |
