Mayor grateful for Ferriday tax renewal
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
"Whew!" was Mayor Glen McGlothin's response Monday to passage of a three-quarter cent sales tax renewal in Ferriday on Saturday.

"I'm glad the people saw fit to renew because without that money and the Walmart money we could not operate this town financially," said McGlothin. "I'm grateful to the voters although we are still facing budget constraints."

Although it was a low turnout -- about 8 percent according to Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber -- town voters passed the tax with 86 percent in favor, 131-21.
