Monterey baseball stays in district hunt Monterey High's baseball team stayed on Oak Hill's heels in District 6B with a 14-9 win over Glenmore Thursday and 13-6 victory over Rapides Tuesday in Alexandria.
Monterey rallied past Glenmora 14-9 Thursday for a key District 6B win.
Monterey trailed 3-1 in the third before scoring five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Hunter Frey was the winning pitcher and went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Jorge Gonzales and Ross Lipsey each had a double for Monterey.
On Tuesday, the Wolves improved to 6-1 in district with the win over Rapides.
"We came out flat," said Monterey coach Eric Richard. "We just didn't play up to par. We still need to learn to have some consistency, not just from game to game, but inning to inning."
Ross Lipsey had two hits against Rapides, while Nick Blake got the win.
Monterey plays at Oak Hill on Thursday. |
