School Board to buy rings for state champions The Concordia Parish School Board recognized students and athletes during its regular meeting Thursday night and also agreed to pay a set amount for rings for athletes whose teams win state championships.
The board recognized the Vidalia High boys' basketball team, which won the Class AAA state championship in March, and approved an idea brought up last month by board member Fred Butcher to purchase rings for players and coaches on championshp teams. The resolution passed Thursday night set the following amounts for rings:
-- Basketball: $200 per ring for team players and coaches winning the state championship in their respective division, not to exceed a total amount of. $3,600.
-- Baseball/Softball: $200 per ring for team players and coaches winning the state championship in their respective division, not to exceed a total amount of $5,600
-- Football: $200 per ring for team players and coaches winning the state championship in their respective division, not to exceed a total amount of $10,400.
