Senate candidate Melancon campaigns in Concordia U.S. Rep. Charlie Melancon said he remembers driving over the Mississippi River Bridge and looking down at nothing but cement on the Vidalia riverfront.
He got a up close view of one of the many buildings on the riverfront Thursday after speaking at the Bryant O. Hammett Vidalia Conference and Convention Center.
"I am thrilled to be here and see this wonderful building and how great this riverfront now looks," said the Napoleonville native, who currently represents the 3rd Congressional District.
Melancon is now a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat held by David Vitter.
The Vidalia stop Thursday was part of his "Jambalaya and Jobs Tour." Melancon's wife, Peachy, was also on hand for the public forum.
