A Vidalia man faces life in prison after being convicted for aggravated incest and aggravated rape.

John Luttrell, 46, 163 Ralph Road, Vidalia, was booked on April 30, 2009, for crimes against his biological daughter beginning when she was nine and continuing until she was 14.

Asst. Dist. Atty. David Opperman, who prosecuted the case, said of the victim: "I've never seen a more courageous witness. She looked her father right in the eye in the courtroom and said 'you raped me.'"

Judge Leo Boothe reached his verdict at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday capping a two-day trial. Luttrell will be sentenced on April 20 at 2 p.m. Luttrell faces a mandatory life sentence for aggravated rape and 20 years for aggravated incest.
