Lady Wolves await playoffs
by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Monterey's Lady Wolves ended their regular season at 12-15 after falling to Oak Hill 5-3 Thursday in Monterey and to St. Joseph 16-4 in Plaucheville.

Despite the losses, the Lady Wolves are still hoping to host a first-round playoff game. Kenramsey.com has the Lady Wolves rated at No. 15.

"We've played well at times," said Monterey coach Hazel Brallier. "It's a new season with the playoffs, so we need to come out focused."

Brallier said she hopes to play the first round game on Tuesday.

"We lost our catcher, Taylor Morace, who has mononucleosis," Brallier said. "But somebody else is going to have to step up for us."

The Lady Wolves fell to 12-14 overall and 4-6 in District 6B.

Monterey tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the third, but Oak Hill scored one run in the bottom of the third and two in the sixth.

Ariel Hector and Ellen Bairnsfather led the Lady Wolves at the plate with two singles each.

Taylor Morace doubled.
