Lady Vikings end regular season Vidalia High's softball team finished its regular season Monday with a 13-0 loss to Cathedral Monday in Vidalia.
There is still an outside chance the Lady Vikings, 5-25, could make the playoffs. Kenramsey.com has the Vikings rated at No. 30. The top 32 teams advance to the playoffs, but softball does not use a power rating like other sports.
"We set a record for strikeouts and errors," said Lady Viking coach Gary Paul Parnham. "We just have to go back to fundamentals. Whether we make the playoffs this year or no, it's going to be a lot different next season. We're going to start in the fall working on an offseason program."
The Lady Vikings defeated Bolton 8-7 on Thursday, before falling to Buckeye 16-1 on Friday to finish 2-10 in District 3-3A play.
The Lady Vikings, who finished with one win last season, finish this year at 5-25.
In Monday's game, Cathedral pitchers Mollie Devening and Ginny Daggett held the Lady Vikings without a hit.
On Thursday, the Lady Vikings trailed Bolton 7-6 in the bottom of the eighth, Kassi Randall singled to tie the game and scored when Eryn Secrest's pop fly in the infeld was dropped, allowing Randall to score the winning run.
Randall tied the game in the bottom of the seven with a triple, scoring on a single by Secrest. |
