Zwolle ends Lady Wolves' year Zwolle scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to defeat Monterey 3-2 in a Class B first-round playoff game in Zwolle Tuesday.
The Lady Wolves end their season at 11-15.
Monterey was rated No. 18 going into the playoffs, while Zwolle is seeded at No. 15.
Zwolle loaded the bases in the bottom of the eighth before scoring the winning run.
Monterey missed an opportunity to score in the top of the eighth as Karlee Woodruff singled and Ellen Bairnsfather doubled to lead off the inning, but the Lady Wolves were unable to score.
Zwolle advances to the second round against No. 2 Forest, which won by forfeit against Bell City.
Bairnsfather doubled twice for the Lady Wolves, while Woodruff had two singles.
Ariel Hector and Sarah Sims both singled.
Monterey was without catcher Taylor Morace, who has mononucleosis. |
