Spring Fly-In slated Saturday

Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 912, Concordia Airport, will host their annual Spring Fly-in Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The fly-in is one of a series in the state from March through October.

"It is our goal in hosting these fly-ins to bring more awareness to small craft aviation," said EAA chapter president Donna Maroon. "Weather permitting, there will be home-built and small aircraft arriving at our airport Saturday. Pilots love to visit with other pilots and to visit with the people who come out to view their planes. Our fly-in is open to the public and there will be a concession on site and plenty of shade."

Maroon said there have been plenty of improvements made at the airport.

"We are proud of our airport," Maroon said. "We've got plans in the works from more improvements through grants. We have just received a grant to build 10 T-hangars. This will increase our revenue through hangar rent and the sale of aircraft fuel."

Making up the Airport Authority Board are Maroon, Jerry Stallings, Ray Skates, John Blunschi and Carl Sayers.

"We are also grateful for the support of members of our EAA Chapter and members of the Saturday Breakfast Club at the airport," Maroon said. "We believe that an airport is a vital part of any community and we are proud to be a part of the growth in our area."
