Graveside services for Essie Hazel Phillips, 100, were held Saturday, May 15, 2010, 2 p.m. at Monterey Baptist Church Cemetery in Monterey with Minister Russell Crum officiating. Services were under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Mrs. Phillips was born April 10, 1910, in Woodville, Miss., to H. C. Smith and Edna Effie Crane Smith. She passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, in Collinston.

She had been a resident of Monterey most of her life until recently.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Phillips; her parents; and brothers, Albert "Babe" Smith Sr., Charlie Broussard and Doc Broussard.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were nephews and great nephews.
