Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Nell Roark Smith, 75, of Ferriday were held at Young's Funeral Home on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Don Steele and Rev. Walter Mallard officiating.

Interment followed at Wilbanks Cemetery in Anitoch under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Mrs. Smith was born August 16, 1934, and passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 .

"Mawmaw" as she was affectionately called by many is with her Lord whom she loved and served with all her heart. She was a Christian example to her family and all who knew her. We love her dearly, and will miss the great times we had together! Truly Heaven is richer and our goal is to meet her again one day.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy L. Roark; mother, Viva Roark; sister-in-law, Beth Prisock; and grandson, Richard McAllister.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Lawrence "L.E." Smith of Ferriday; son, Rodney and his wife Gail Smith of Ferriday; daughter, Debbie and her husband Elbert McAllister of Ferriday; sister, Bettye and her husband Meredith Smith of Ferriday; brother, Dale and his wife Karen Roark of North Carolina; brother, Dwain and his wife Terrie Roark of Jacksonville, Ark.; granddaughter, Tamie and her husband Rodney McGowen of Ferriday; granddaughter, Rebekah Smith of Ferriday; grandson, Kevin McAllister of Ferriday; grandson, Darren McAllister and his fiancee Beth Dodge of Ferriday; sister-in-law, Esther and her husband Eddie Day of Nashville, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Lamar Prisock of Monroe; one great-grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers were Rodney McGowen, Curtis Smith, Jimmy McAllister, Robert McAllister, Buddy Rouse, Steve Mallard and Lamar Prisock.
