by Joey Martin - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
Ferriday High will face the same rugged pre-district schedule as last year as the Trojans open up their season at Natchez High on Sept. 3.

Ferriday will compete in the Vidalia Jamboree on August 28.

Last year was the first time Ferriday and Natchez met in a regular season contest.

The 6A Bulldogs defeated the Class 2A Trojans 12-6 at Melz Field.

Natchez scored the winnin touchdown with 4:30 remaining in the game.

"We were in that game last year, but had some things happen," said Ferriday Interim head coach James Davis. "We still performed well. Natchez had played three games before that and all we had was a jamoboree.. But the kids are really looking forward to going to Natchez."

The Trojans return home on Sept. 10 against Block.

Ferriday hosts Vidalia on September 17.

Ferriday used 265 yards in kick return yardage, including a 75-yard punt return by Davonta Scott, to defeat Vidalia 34-24 Friday in Dee Faircloth Viking Stadium last year.

The Trojans travel to Monroe to face Wossman on September 24.

Ferriday closes out its non-district schedule on October 1 with a home game against Peabody.

The Trojans visit Mangham on October 8 in their District 2-2A opener,

On October 15, Ferriday hosts Jonesboro-Hodge.

Ferriday visits Lake Providence on October 22, followed by a home game against Sterlington.

The Trojans visit defending district champion Farmerville on Nov. 5.

"We're getting ready to start back up with our conditioning," Davis said.

Davis is serving as an interim after Freddie Harrison resigned to accept the head coaching job at Washington-Marion in Lake Charles.

"We're going to start interviewing this week," Davis said. "We've got three or four applicants and hope to reach a decision soon."
