Kaelin Daye's family has always thought she could sing well.

"It's something from an early age she just started getting real passionate about," said Melanie Sojourner, Daye's mother. "We started singing together when she was old enough to talk."

The five finalists from Saturday's contest are Kala Loftin, 18, of Jonesville; Andrea Rabie, 18, of Alexandria; Kaelin Daye, 15, of Natchez; Bethani Goodman, 21, of Ferriday; and Jamie Ducote, 25, of Bunkie.
