A benefit softball tournament will be held Saturday at the Adult Softball Park for David Logan Vines of Vidalia.

The 13-year-old Vines, the son of Victor and Jennifer Vines of Vidalia, will undergo surgery, July 7th at Shriners Hospital in Shreveport.

The surgery, Ulnar Shortening Osteotomy, will be first of several surgeries to correct a birth defect.

The softball tournament , which begins at 8 a.m., is being held to assist the family with expenses.

All proceeds will help defer costs of the family's expenses during that time.  Teams are encouraged to sign up. Any donations are welcomed.

For more information about the tournament, contact Jennifer Vines 601-870-5870 or Amanda Hill 318-452-3128.

David is the grandson of Paul and Rosanne Purser of Winnsboro, Will and Alice Shuler of Winnfield and Mitzi and Claude Vines of Lebanon TN, and the great-grandson of Emma McFarland of Winnsboro.
