Ferriday receives 'Cleanest City' plaque

"It wasn't even close."

Jean Gilstrap of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation presented Ferriday with the state's Cleanest City award during a presentation at the Ferriday Delta Music Museum Arcade on Thursday.

Ferriday had won the cleanest city award once before -- in 1958 during the administration of former Mayor Woodie Davis.

"It wasn't even close," said Gilstrap, chairman of the statewide contest. "There are only 10 plaques like this in the entire state."

She then presented the award to Ferriday mayor Glen McGlothin.
