Louisiana Elastomer (LAEL) President and CEO Michael Wells said the company is recovering "from a worldwide recession" and intends to have a workforce of 100 at its Vidalia operation by year's end.

He also said that all vendors "will be paid."

Questions about the company arose at the regular meeting of the Concordia Parish Police Jury Monday night. Jurors refused to pass a resolution, which it tabled three weeks ago, supporting the company's receipt of tax breaks through the Enterprise Zone Program. The request was made through the Louisiana Economic Development's Restoration Tax Abatement & Quality Jobs Program.
