Aaron Davis Hampton Aaron Davis Hampton was born on August 22, 1924, to the late Earry and Annie Hampton in Wildsville. He was the youngest of three children -- the late Essie B. Hampton Brown, the late Margaret Hampton Wilkerson, and one stepsister, the late Carrie Mae Brown.
Bro. Hampton was a self-employed mechanic and operated Hampton's Repair Shop in Ferriday for over 40 years. He was a deacon, assistant Sunday School superintendent and a devoted member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. His motto was, "Keep God first, work hard, treat all of God's people as you wish to be treated and always, always help where you can."
He departed this life and passed away into God's blessed eternity to make his home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 7, 2010, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was 85 years old.
Bro. Hampton was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Hartford Hampton, and a stepson, Eddie Lee Hartford.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his daughters, Lynda Hampton Coleman, Dallas, Jennifer Denice Hampton, Dallas; stepdaughters, Olivia Carter, Baton Rouge, Annette Hatcher, Chino, Calif., and Melvia Joyce Hartford, Baton Rouge; granddaughter, Amanda Smalley, Denton, Texas; grandsons, Andre Gibson, Dallas, Kevin Lee Aaron Hampton, Dallas, Lawrence Gains, Port Allen, Lyndell Mitchell, Dallas; brother-in-law, Fulton Wilkerson, Ferriday; nephews, Wilbert Wilkerson, Ferriday, Derry Wilkerson, Monroe; and a host of additional nephews, nieces and great-grandchildren. |
