Vidalia High went 4-1 at the Northwestern State Basketball Camp in Natchitoches this past weekend.

The Vikings' only loss was a 33-29 setback to Ruston, which the Vikings beat at the Louisiana Tech Basketball Camp earlier.

Vidalia defeated Loyola, 51-38; North DeSoto,37-35; in double overtime, Berwick, 45-14 and Byrd, 37-26.

The Vikings lost to Byrd at Louisiana Tech.

"The guys are coming around," said Vidalia coach Robert Sanders. "We have to do a better job of getting the ball into the low post. But these games are really helping us get ready for the season."

Leading the Vikings in scoring were D.J. Polk, Alvin Bell, Terrence Thompson and Brandon Bauchman.

Other players were Jamon Duson, Jamarcus Clay, Reggie Reynolds, Tri McCoy, Dee Fleming, Michael Whitle and Charles Credit.

Ferriday's girls defeated Jefferson County and lost to Natchez High in a Southwest Mississippi Summer League Tournament in Fayette Monday.

"I thought we looked pretty good," said Ferriday girls coach Lisa Abron. "We have several new players and this gave them a chance to get adjusted to learning the system and being around the other girls. It was a lot of fun and they had a good time.

Ferriday's girls host a tournament on Thursday at Ferriday High.

Natchez High will meet Franklin County High of Meadville, Ms., at 5 p.m. in the first game, followed by Ferriday against Trinity Episcopal of Natchez at 6 p.m.

Ferriday returns to action against Franklin County at 7 p.m. Ferriday will face South Pike in Natchez at 5 p.m., followed by Jefferson County against Trinity and Natchez versus Ferriday at 7 p.m. On July 12, Ferriday meets Amite at Trinity at 5 p.m., followed by Natchez versus Trinity.
