A group looking to start a charter school in Ferriday is waiting on the decision of Concordia Parish School Board on whether it will approve the group's application for a charter, according to Michael Burley.

"We're not so ambitious that we are planning to start in 2010," Burley said. "We set a goal of starting a charter school in 2011. There's just so much you have to do and it would be absolutely impossible to have a school ready for this school year."

"The School Board is waiting on a third party to review our application" Burley said. "Once the third party presents its findings we will be notified at which point the board will accept or reject us. If they reject us, then we would take our application to the BESE Board and look at being a different type of charter school."

Burley said the group is looking to be a Type I Charter School, which means all students must be from Concordia Parish.
