The request for a local charter school was unanimously denied at the Concordia Parish School Board meeting Thursday night.

Supt. Loretta Blankenstein said a third-party reviewer from the Louisiana Board of Education evaluated the case from Delta Charter, summing the conclusions in a 58-page document the board used in making its decision.

"I am recommending that at this time we deny the type 1 charter school," Blankenstein said.

The decision, which was agreed upon by all board members through a roll call vote, was not met with discourse from community members.

Board members approved a pupil progression plan as well as a revision to the school calendar to add early dismissal days for homecoming.
