|Concoridia 12s begin regional play|
The Concordia 12-year-old All-Stars face Ville Platte Friday at noon in its first game of the Dixie Youth 12-year-old South Regional in Metairie.
Concordia finished second in the district tournament in Mangham, splitting a pair of games with unbeaten Morehouse Thursday.
"We looked as good as we looked all year in the first game and as bad as we can look in the second game," said Concordia coach Whest Shirley. "We wanted to win district, but our goal was to reach State."
If the Concordia 12s win Friday, they will play at 5 p.m. Saturday. A loss will mean a 2 p.m. Saturday game.
The winner of the South regional will meet the North regional winner in Alexandria in a best-of-three tournament for the state title.
Morehouse is competing in the North regional.
