A state official said paperwork for a new roof for the old courthouse in Vidalia should be processed by Labor Day.

Design work is also being completed for a new roof for the new courthouse.

The two projects, funded through grants, will cost an estimated $775,000.

Eric Shaw, the Director of Community Planning for the Louisiana Recovery Authority, said "we need an environmental review since the old courthouse is an historic building. This is needed before we can spend federal money."
