One killed, three hurt in two Vidalia accidents

A 77-year-old Vidalia man was killed Saturday and three people injured in two separate automobile accidents.

Vidalia Police Chief Tapper Hendricks said Joe Mays, 77, of Vidalia was crossing Carter Street from North Spruce in his vehicle when it was struck by a vehicle which was traveling west after having crossed the Mississippi River bridge.

Police Chief Tapper Hendricks said he didn't know the name of the female driver of that vehicle or her condition.

Hendricks said the Louisiana State Police was called in to reconstruct the accident scene.

On Monday evening, a four-vehicle accident resulted in the hospitalization of three people.
