Police Jury adopts junk ordinance Following a public hearing, the Concordia Parish Police Jury adopted an ordinance on "abandoned automobiles, major appliances and other junk" during its regular meeting Monday night.
Based on state statues, the ordinance provides for the removal of junk and to charge the owner up to $200 in costs.
Jury President Melvin Ferrington said jurors may choose to increase the fee in the future.
"We may look at amending the ordinance at some point," he said.
Lloyd Paul Jr. of Ferriday discussed a problem with junk along Black Bayou Road. He said whatever law is on the books should carry weight.
"All I'm asking is that it be enforced," he said.
