USDA awards $6.2 million grant for water plant The Town of Ferriday will receive $6.2 million in U.S. Department of Agriculture grants to build a new water plant and drill wells, Ferriday town attorney Anna Ferguson said at the monthly meeting Tuesday.
Mayor Glen McGlothin and aldermen Johnnie Brown, Elijah Steppers and Gail Pryor learned about the grant during the Louisiana Municipal Association meeting in New Orleans last week.
McGlothin checked into Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans late Friday night after experiencing chest and arm pains, but was released Monday. He was unable to attend Tuesday's meeting as Brown led the meeting as Mayor Pro Tempore.
"I'm feeling better," McGlothin said. "I've got some more tests and will see my cardiologist in Alexandria. But the eckocardiogram was clear. I was just feeling bad and was extremely hot and sweating. I had been feeling bad for a couple of days. I'm sure it's stress. I'm going to start delegating more."
McGlothin said he is appreciative to Sen. Mary Landrieu, Rep. Rodney Alexander, Clarence Hawkins and Richard Hoffpauir with USDA and engineer Bryant Hammett for his efforts in securing the grant.
