Concordia Parish schools open Thursday, Aug. 12, with an anticipated enrollment of approximately 4,000 students.

Superintendent Loretta Blankenstein said school will dismiss the first day at 12:30 p.m.

"We completed the last year with approximately 3,920 students," said Blankenstein, adding, "We hope to begin with at least that number or more."

She said school administrators will remain the same, but a few changes have been made in teaching staff.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, administrators, teachers and assistants participated in parishwide staff development at the Riverfront Conference Center in Vidalia. The topics included Building Vocabulary and Learning Styles.
