GOSEP assesses parish flood damage
posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
A team from the Governor's Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness (GOSEP) assessed flood damage in Concordia Parish on Tuesday during a day long visit.

Morris White, director of the Concordia Parish office, said 76 homes "took in water" to some degree when more than 10 inches of rain fell in some areas of the parish on Aug. 18.

"The GOSEP people stayed all day and went to all of the damaged areas," said White. "Basically, most of the damage was from near Clayton back to Vidalia. It was spread out."

He said Concordia Park was the hardest hit with 24 homes receiving some degree of water damage.

"The state people counted houses, took down addresses and looked inside them," said White. "They worked on a check list. They took this information back to Baton Rouge today (Wednesday) and will look at the figures."
