County Agent Glen Daniels said Tuesday the 2010 grain harvest has thus far been the best in Concordia in three years due to better weather.

"Last year when there was a drought much of the crop just burned up, and two years ago there were hurricanes and rains," said McDaniel.

He said the corn and grain sorghum harvests are complete. Corn yields averaged 105 bushels per acre, he said.

"Some of the corn burned up early due to dry weather so it affected our overall results," he said.

Daniels said from 20,000 to 25,000 acres was planted in corn this year.
