ACCS improves to 3-0 Adams County Christian School improved its record to 3-0 with an easy 31-0 win over Amite School Center Friday in Liberty.
The Rebels have not started out 3-0 at any point since at least 2000.
"I know it's been a long time," said AC coach Paul Hayles.
It's also been quite a while since AC shut out an opponent.
The Rebels beat Centreville 10-2 in their season-opener in 2005.
"I know we haven't had a shutout in a while," Hayles said.
AC scored all of its points in the first half as Daniel Guedon scored on an 80-yard pass from Johnny Smith and returned a punt 58 yards for a score.
Brandon Sanders scampered 76 yards for another Rebel TD.
Christopher Perry scored on runs of 3 and 2 yards.
Defensively, Zack Day had 20 unassisted tackles, six assists, two pass deflections and a forced fumble.
"The kids played hard," Hayles said. "Everybody got in quite a few reps."
ACCS travels to Woodville Friday to take on WCCA. Hayles was head coach for the Rams before moving over to ACCS.
"That's always special going back there," Hayles said. "But the bigger thing is that this is our first district game. We must be focused and ready." |
