Vidalia-Ferriday renew rivalry They met for the first time 50 years ago on Melz Field. Ferriday won the game 30-8, but Vidalia would win the next four, the longest winning streak Vidalia team's have managed against Ferriday teams.
In 1969, Ferriday, displaying the Bulldog mascot for the final time, defeated Vidalia 44-18 to take a 5-4-1 advantage.
The two teams would not meet again until 1977 when Vidalia reeled off three straight wins.
In 1980, Jerry Baldwin would bring the Junkyard Dogs to Ferriday.
Ferriday would win six straight, the longest Ferriday winning streak. That included the year the Trojans went to the Superdome in 1984, losing to John Curtis in the finals.
