Construction on Vidalia's $5.7 million municipal complex will begin Nov. 8, Mayor Hyram Copeland said Monday after documents were signed at city hall.

"USDA has signed off on everything and we have received a letter to proceed with the project," said Copeland. "We look for construction to take from 12 to 14 months depending on the weather."

Clark Construction Company of McComb, Miss., was the low bidder for the project at $5,797,874.18. Copeland said local businesses will be hired as subcontractors.
