Former VPD chief faces up to five years, $250,000 fine

Former Vidalia Police Chief Ronnie G. "Tapper" Hendricks faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine, or both, after pleading guilty in federal court last week.

Hendricks' pled guilty to making false statements to federal law enforcement agents in the course of an investigation into the use and disposition of certain firearms at the Vidalia Police Department. The plea was entered in Alexandria before U.S. District Judge Dee Drell on Nov. 18.

Hendricks will be sentenced February 25, 2011.
