Catahoula Parish Sheriff James Glen Kelly said he is relieved and thankful this week that accused murderer Thomas Steven Sanders, 53, is behind bars.

Sanders was indicted by a federal Grand Jury in Alexandria last week and pled not guilty Friday to charges that he kidnapped and abducted 12-year-old Lexis Kay Roberts in Arizona and took her to Catahoula, where she was shot to death in a wooded area off a logging road in the Harrisonburg hills.

Sanders faces murder charges in Catahoula Parish in Roberts' death, while Kelly said Sanders is wanted in Arizona for the murder of the 12-year-old's mother, 31-year-old Suellen Roberts of Las Vegas, Nev.
