Marriott to build four-story hotel on Vidalia riverfront Construction will begin in March on a Marriott Town Place Suite hotel on the Vidalia Riverfront.
Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland said the City of Vidalia will sign a lease with Concordia Group LLC of Metairie in about two weeks to build the four-story hotel on the Vidalia Riverfront next to Promise Hospital.
"We're excited to have Marriott coming to Vidalia," said Vidalia Mayor Hyram Copeland. "This should help us to attract larger conferences to our conference and convention center."
Marriott Towne Place Suites is a $10 million project that will cover three acres. Construction should take about a year to complete, said Copeland.
Vidalia City Manager Ken Walker said the hotel will have 101 rooms and employ 20-to-25 employees.
Walker said construction will take about a year and the hotel should open around March of 2012.
