Ferriday chamber members reminisce at final meeting

The final Ferriday Chamber of Commerce meeting Tuesday at Concordia Bank in Ferriday was one of looking back.

"When I first started going there were two or three people when it was held at the old electrical building across from the hospital," said Vernon Stevens. "There were only two or three people attending at the time. Sam Hanna (the late Sentinel publisher) took a lot of initiative and got it moved to the bank and really got it going. He deserves a lot of credit for shaping it back up."

Rena Pitts remembers the Ferriday Chamber starting up the Ferriday Christmas Parade.

"Without the movers and shakers back then, it never would have survived," she said.

Judith Bingham, Director of the Delta Music Museum, said it was the chamber starting the original Ferriday Museum that made the Delta Music Museum possible.
